Sunrise, Sunset and Snowfall in The Watermelons..

"The window of my soul I throw wide open to the sun  -John Greenleaf Whittier

At 10,678 the Sandia Mountains rise above the Rio Grande Rift Valley stretching up out of the New Mexico dry soil and into the cool alpine air.  Not your typical mountain range, Sandia is topped with limestone that was once on the ocean floor around 300 million years ago.  Being isolated in such a hot region the weather the mountain can create is amazing.  A whiteout can turn to a bursting Lilac sunset within minutes.  A mountain this beautiful would only be home in a state as beautiful as New Mexico.  Sunsets in New Mexico maybe some of the prettiest in the world and theres nothing better than to warm your bones in such a beautiful warm light.....

White Hot Sands!

White Sands New Mexico.  A place that could be categorized as beautiful, stunning, breathtaking, or maybe unbelievable.  It could also however be categorized as hotter than hell, annoying, secretive, creepy, or huge.  Whatever category you choose to label it under there is no doubt that it is a photographers blank white canvas.  The state park which is located in Tularosa Basin lays claim to the largest gypsum dune field on Earth.  The dunes cover nearly 275 square miles and glow for as far as the eyes can see.  During the daytime it can be an oven with the hot New Mexican sun radiating off the fine grains of gypsum, but when the sun begins to sink behind the western mountains the light takes a turn for the beautiful...

Jezebel....

While walking into work at REI a year ago I happened to notice the Humane Society had their travel van park out front promoting for a local event.  I told myself I would go look just to see what they had. Now for years i have dreamed of owning a siberian husky.  I have always been fascinated by their eyes because the eskimos say "dogs with blue eyes can see the wind."  So as I am approaching I am stunned by a light brown (mackenzie) blue eyed female.  She was the most innocent beautiful thing i have ever witnessed in my adult life.  She was the exact dog I would want if dogs were like clones and could be created from imagination.  She was perfection. Her name would be Jezebel.....

An Evening On The Tracks with Poema

About Three weeks ago on a cold New Mexican evening I was lucky enough to photograph a local band by the name of Poema.  I had seen Poema for the first time in a coffee shop in Albuquerque and was instantly blown away by their voices and beautiful harmonies birthing sweet boisterous sounds.  I followed them through Facebook for the last couple years and feel like they have so much potential and such fun personalities that it wont be long before they are touring nationally with Taylor Swift or Zach Brown Band and millions of people are singing their songs.  Art is a wonderful trait to possess and these girls glow with artistic ability.  I feel privileged to have been able to work with them and was blown away by how photogenic they were! thank you Shaeleen and Elle.
